Notable Leaders in Communications

by John Truscott

With all the political talk about a “trifecta” this election season, Truscott Rossman has achieved a trifecta of its own.

We have the distinct honor of having three members of our team, from both sides of the state, recognized by Crain’s as “Notable Leaders in Communications”: Amy LeFebre, Elliot Talen, and Chris Moyer. They have led client teams and projects that stand out in the field. They are experienced leaders and professionals – truly the best in class.

A Milestone Fifteen Years in the Making

After fifteen years of working to build a great firm with an incredible team, seeing so many of our people earn this recognition is a milestone. And even better, a sign of validation for TR’s people and approach.

One of our core principles is “Do the Right Thing.” Amy, Elliot, and Chris are the epitome of ethical professionals who always do the right thing. But it’s the way they partner with clients and the creativity they bring to every problem that really sets them apart.

The Communicators

Amy has been with TR for more than a decade. Her experience and professionalism help guide so much of what we do. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside her on client projects, and on many occasions I just sit back and watch her develop strategies that win the issue for our clients. Our business has changed rapidly, and Amy has brought new communication techniques into everything we do. That depth of experience, combined with her ability to see how our industry evolves every day, makes her uniquely qualified to serve our community.

Elliot has been an incredible addition to our team, joining us over two years ago. His knowledge of Grand Rapids and his deep relationships in the community help drive our client strategies. There’s no one better to bounce ideas off, especially when we’re building comprehensive plans for our clients. Grand Rapids is a city built on relationships, and it’s hard to walk down the street without running into someone Elliot knows. But we all know relationships aren’t worth a lot unless you have the skills to back them up. Elliot does. His strategic insight and ability to execute make him an essential part of our team and a valued presence across West Michigan.

I first heard of Chris Moyer from a dear friend who said we needed to hire him. That friend was right. Chris and I are from opposite sides of the political aisle, but our differences only strengthen our firm’s position in this state. Chris has been a part of Detroit’s comeback over the last decade, and that career path has made him a colleague and friend to many in Detroit. He’s a member of the Grosse Pointe City Council, a member of the Detroit Athletic Club Board of Directors, and, most importantly, a great dad to his three-year-old daughter. He’s always on the move and takes the counsel he gives to every client seriously. This election cycle, you’ve likely seen him offering political commentary across the Detroit television market, where his opinions have gained an important audience. That’s not for ego; that’s because Chris can provide a bipartisan perspective that reflects the thoughts and feelings of Southeast Michigan – and that’s a talent.

Talent That Spans the State

Developing this kind of talent has been a long-term goal for me as TR has grown statewide and even added several national client projects. Today, we have a depth and breadth of talent that is unmatched.

I am incredibly proud to see Amy, Elliot, and Chris receive the recognition they so richly deserve. It’s an honor to work with them and have them as part of the TR family.
